Rafiki Mwema has a capacity of 20 girls in our therapeutic house.

We have a high ratio of staff to girls to ensure all the girls have access to the emotional support they need to help them address the trauma they have experienced

All girls are allocated a key worker who will support them through courts, assessments and interviews

There is support for the families of our girls to help them to return home if safe to do so

The girls live as part of the Rafiki Mwema family where they are fed a nutritious, well balanced diet and receive an education

Our girls access our Attachment Play Programme and bespoke therapy

To do all these things we need sponsors for our girls. However, the girls stay with us for a time-limited period of up to a year. Our aim is to help the girls return safely home or onto a safe orphanage. We will continue to support in the community

As well as this being in the best interest of the girls it allows us to continue to support other young girls too

Sponsorship therefore is for the bed they sleep in. All our beds are named and we need to raise at least £100 per bed a month. We know this is a large amount so we offer 5 sponsors at £20 each (Again this can be divided between friends or families if you would like)

We will send monthly updates to the sponsors letting them know who is in ‘their bed’ that month and an update on how things are going. We will send photos and there is an opportunity to write to your child – and even come for a visit if you are in the area!

Your sponsorship will make a huge difference to our sexually abused babies. Without the opportunity to make sense of the trauma that has happened to them – and to support their families at the same time – they could face a difficult and distressing future.
